Define the pharmaceutical WMS data model
Typical data include article and packaging master data, batch number, expiry date, stock status, storage location, quantity and movement reference. Additional fields such as serial numbers are only planned where product, source data and technical capability have been confirmed.
ERP and WMS integration before go-live
Agree the master data, inventory updates, order messages, status responses and reports that need to be exchanged. Format, transfer method, frequency, mandatory fields, duplicate detection and error handling belong in the interface specification. A particular ERP or WMS integration is only confirmed after technical assessment.
Batch, expiry and FEFO rules
First Expiry, First Out, minimum remaining shelf life, quarantine, release and blocking must have consistent meanings in the system and the physical process. Automatic and manual allocation rules are documented and tested with realistic cases. System status does not replace a required quality decision.
Testing, access controls and audit-trail requirements
Before launch, test routine transactions, rejected messages, data corrections and recovery. Required user and change records are determined by the process and risk assessment; an audit trail is not claimed without checking the actual system. Permissions and acceptance criteria must support the operating roles.
Fallback and reconciliation after an outage
Define alternative procedures, escalation contacts and subsequent data capture for an outage. After recovery, reconcile system records with physical inventory and completed movements before routine operation resumes. Monitoring and change control continue after go-live.
